Support for Early Childhood Educators in regional Australia

The childcare sector at large is experiencing significant staffing shortages, this is compounded in regional communities where a lack of affordable and suitable housing, isolation, and costly living expenses all act as a barrier to recruiting educators.

Currently, there are very few incentives for early learning teachers and educators to make their way to country communities, which does exist for teachers and staff in the primary and secondary school state-run systems.

Our goal is to implement systems to support access to appropriate and affordable housing for educators, and programs to assist with the costs associated with living in regional communities.

Children spend a significant amount of time in Early Learning Centres, and the educators they meet and the relationships that they develop play a key role in children’s learning and development.
