Faith came here with her husband Hesbon who was a teacher in Kenya, he now works at the golf club driving the courtesy bus and he is loving it. They came here in January 2024, flew into Brisbane and then caught a connecting flight to Moranbah. It took them 3 days to get here from Kenya, with stops in Singapore and then Brisbane. When they arrived in Moranbah they were very tired and jet lagged. Amanda picked them up from the airport she took them on a “tour” of the town and then to their house.
Faith and her husband were pleasantly surprised when they went into their fully furnished and set up home and found basic grocery items waiting for them. Faith said they made a cup of coffee, relaxed and then fell asleep in their new freshly made bed.
Coming to a set up house was such a relief for them as they did not have time when they arrived to go to the grocery store to get basic staples like milk and bread.
Faith said the whole process was great, a little nerve racking as it took a long time (almost 1 year) from when she first applied for the job to when they arrived in Moranbah, the longest part was the visa application but once it was approved it was all systems go!
Faith said the best part of her job at Simply Sunshine Kindergarten is the children. While I was there it was evident that the children enjoy Faiths company and that she has a true interest in the children.
She actively engaged with the children while they were playing with Dinosaurs in the sand pit and talking about the “baby spider” they found earlier in the day. A child asked where the spider had gone and Faith explained that its mummy came and got it and took it back home. The child responded by saying “like my mummy does with me” and happily walked away to another play space.
Faith said that she has many friends that would love the opportunity to come to Australia and they are always keeping an eye out for when positions are listed.
They have explored the region visiting Emerald and Mackay but very much loves Moranbah.
Faith and her husband are very happy that they decided to move to Australia and love that Moranbah is their home.
